crocheted lampshades

Wow. Moonbasket creates some dazzling crocheted lampshades. They are fabulous looking and really bring out the beauty in crochet. Unfortunately, this isn’t a tutorial, but if there’s anyone out there who knows how to make one of these, let me know (I’m sure others would like to know, too). Meanwhile, admire and be inspired by Moonbasket’s creations.  [via Design Shimmer]

Could you please send me instructions on how to make the crocheted, hanging lampshades. I
think they are beautiful and would like to make one for myself.
Thank You
Genevieve

Genevieve, I wish I had a pattern for these lampshades, but I don’t. I’m not sure how it’s made to hold its round and hollow shape. If anyone has a clue, do share.

It’s probably crocheted on or around a balloon or something more spherical, covered in a type of stiffener and then removed from the balloon by popping it.

That makes sense. More complicated than my crochet skills can handle. Give me a heads up if anyone stumbles onto a tutorial for something similar.

Thanks a TON, Jessica! I’m such a visual person, and this tutorial really illustrates well how to do this. It actually seems pretty simple. It’s a basic crochet stitch pattern, but I’m sure it would just as easy with a more complicated stitch pattern. Thanks again!

have you every try to get ahold of the person who made them. they are amazing, it looks like they used the pinapple design, of which I am going to try and learn that. i am so glad that I came across this thank you for sharing.
